Dataran Merdeka or Independence Square is smack in the middle of Kuala Lumpur, the capital city of Malaysia. I was taken there for a walk there pre-Indpendence by my late mother. There was then a quaint old fountain at the corner near Jalan Pasar Besar. Now that had been replaced by some structure which include the “tallest flagpole in the world”. The oldest part of the club is towards the left. In the background at the top of the hill is Bukit Aman Police Headquarter. Here is the main section of the Royal Selangor Club itself which is the newest part of the club:
Facing the Royal Selangor Club, on the right side of Dataran Merdeka, is the Saint Mary Cathedral, an Anglican Church:
